Gay Idol Fever at Scarlet
It started a little slow, but thanks to the bee-youtiful weather, Scarlet opened up the front window and the dulcet tones of Windy City Gay Idol drew in so many passersby, the place was packed. Congrats to Sean and Jamie, who will advance to the semi-finals at Sidetrack on May 31.

Check out this graphic I did for the label of a fake jar of pills. It was a gift to Lindsey Devereaux, who did a turn as guest judge for Gay Idol in the guise of Paula Abdul. The pills were flying that night!

Jinx, you owe me a shot!
You would have thought you were at Empty Bottle or some shit on Friday. Why the drooling crowds? It was Flesh Hungry Dog's third anniversary show, starring The Joans and the much-touted farewell performance of Jinx Titanic. And all that touting almost led to me getting my ass kicked by a rather rough-looking Jinxfan. All part of the allure.

In The Land of the Carringtons (and Colbys)
Mountain air, mountain hiking, mountain time. Mountain, mountain, mountain! Such was my all-too-brief vacation to Denver/Boulder to catch up with some old friends. It's so necessary to take a break from the hustle-bustle and just let your freak flag fly for a few. If you ever get down to Denver, I must recommend the "Petticoat Bruncheon" at the Bump-n-Grind Cafe, every Saturday and Sunday. Just don't tell them it's your birthday, unless you want three rough drag queens rubbing their asses all over you as the room cheers them along. Now that's good eatin'!

Oscar night at minibar:
It was good to see ChicagoPride.com's very own Bill Pritchard at minibar for Oscar night. We spoke of our love for Miss Marlo Thomas (That Girl... get it?) when I noticed Bill is a dead ringer for Ted Bessell. And speaking of dead, here's Billy in a somber moment during the death montage. I got a little choked up when they showed Suzanne Pleshette. I know I was not alone.
