Black Dove Theatre Company proudly kicks off its 2004-2005 season with Stop Kiss by Diana Son, with performances October 14-24, 2004. Stop Kiss is directed by Black Dove Artistic Director Jennifer Dobby.

When Sara abandons the Midwest for New York City, an innocent favor sparks a friendship with Callie, which quickly and quietly grows into one of romance. Just as Sara and Callie are finally able to express their feelings for each other, they find themselves victims of a horrific attack that thrusts both women and their relationship into the harsh spotlight - a situation for which neither is prepared. Stop Kiss is a moving exploration of love and survival, and the tension between remaining silent and bearing witness.

Playwright Diana Son's plays have been produced at Actors Theatre of Louisville; Ensemble Studio Theatre; La Jolla Playhouse; The Joseph Papp Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival; the Mark Taper Forum; New Georges; and Soho Repertory Theatre. She is an alumni member of New Dramatists. She is a graduate of New York University's dramatic literature program, and lives in New York. Her other plays include Boy, R.A.W. (Because I'm a Woman), Fishes, 2000 Miles, Stealing Fire and Happy Birthday Jack. She was a staff writer for the NBC's The West Wing.

Director Jennifer Dobby is the artistic director of Black Dove Theatre Company. Her Black Dove directing credits include Sweet*Elise and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. Upcoming 2005 Black Dove projects include the direction of her multi-media rock musical CLOSERS and the U.S. premiere of Oren Lavie's Bridges and Harmonies. Chicago directing credits include her one-woman show, Things, at the Bailiwick Director's Festival last winter. Other directing credits include Fefu and Her Friends and Thicker Than Snow at the Armory Free Theatre. Ms. Dobby graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.F.A. in Performance Studies, and a B.A. in both English and Rhetoric.

Black Dove's production of Stop Kiss begins performances at Breadline Theatre Group's Lab Space on October 14 and continues through October 24, 2004. Tickets for Stop Kiss are priced from $10 to $15. Tickets may be reserved online by emailing tickets@blackdovetheatre.org.
