W!

Friday, October 29, 2004
9:30 PM

Bailiwick Repertory Theatre (theatre closed)  (Map it)
1229 W Belmont Avenue
Chicago, IL 60657

W! is the story of George W. Bush filmmaker Michael Moore would write if he could sing and dance. Set at a Republican fundraiser, W! is a good-natured send-up of President Bush, his character, cohorts, and credentials. The musical takes our leader from his Texas roots through his days in the National Guard during Vietnam, and finally to the White House. He is supported by his Karl Rove (who else), Dick Cheney, Wally O'Malley of Ohio, and Pat Robertson. In W! President Bush takes the audience through the now familiar saga of the last four years and spins them into out of control hilarity. The songs include "Texas Kind of Prez", "Mayberry Macchiavelli", "Fox in the Henhouse", and "Weapons of Mass Distraction". Join Theater Wit and W! in our own coalition of the willing. Why should the great nations of Eritrea and Palau Tonga have all the fun?

The cast includes Tom Mula as George W. Bush, Ronald Keaton and Cynthia J. Pearson. The production is directed by Steve Scott.

Artistic Director Jeremy Wechsler is the founder of Theater Wit, www.theatrewit.org, Chicago's newest Equity theatre company. Theater Wit is dedicated to producing plays of humor and intelligence. Mr. Wechsler is a resident director at Bailiwick Arts Centre where some of his previous productions have included the Chicago premieres of hit comedies like THE MOST FABULOUS STORY EVER TOLD and NOW THEN AND AGAIN, winner of a Jeff citation for Best Play.
