The "Queer Is Folk Festival is a celebration of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered experience through folk music. Conceived by Scott Free for the Old Town School of Folk Music, the goal of this event is to help foster the idea of inclusiveness that has always been an important part of the folk tradition. This event will be a benefit for TYRA (Trans Youth Resource & Advocacy, a program of Illinois Gender Advocates and Howard Brown Health Center.The TYRA drop-in center is a safe and confidential place for young transgender people between the ages of 14 to 24 to come and meet other youth who also identify as transgender, or are questioning their gender identity.
