This award-winning, engaging documentary follows ten Midwestern teenagers as they attend the first overnight Bible Camp for gay Christian youths. Caught in the battle between religion, politics, and sexuality, these kids grapple with issues of fitting in and finding their identity amidst confusion and contradiction. Camp Out tackles the question of why, despite the homophobia of many Christian churches, these kids still long to be a part of the Christian faith. As they struggle to reconcile these seemingly irreconcilable but powerful presences in their lives, they provide lessons for us all in tolerance and understanding. Video, 77 min.
