Queer as Folk protagonists Brian and Michael can’t hold a candle to the relationship between best friends in Rag Tag, a gripping tale of a childhood friendship that develops over 10 years into a socially unacceptable love affair. As children, Raymond and Tagbo struggle to maintain their special bond in the face of racial, political, economic and social inequality. Raymond is from a single parent West Indian home, while Tagbo is the only son of middle class Nigerian parents. They remain inseparable until Social Services takes Raymond from London to Birmingham to live with his grandmother. Returning to London after ten years, Raymond finds that his bond with Tagbo has become urgent and consuming. Torn between family expectations and the growing passion between them, they journey back to Tagbo’s Nigerian hometown, to discover what they can and can’t live without. Video, 101 min.
