La Cage Aux Folles
Jerry Herman's music and Harvey Fierstein's book bring into glittering light the story of Georges and Albin, two men spending their lives together in St. Tropez. Georges owns La Cage aux Folles, the drag club below their flat. Albin performs at La Cage as Zaza and, while the chorus queens jealously dub him “too old, and too fat,” the crowds adore him. Georges and Albin’s twenty years of domestication are thrown into a whirl when Jean-Michel, the son, fathered by Georges during a one-night heterosexual fling, comes home with news that he is engaged to Anne. That’s the good news. The bad news is that her father is a right-wing politician and head of the Tradition, Family and Morality Party, whose sworn aim is to squash the vice of local drag clubs by shutting them down. When they try to conceal their lifestyle and their ownership of La Cage, the real trouble begins.

Vegetarian Sushi Making Class
We invite you to an evening of cooking and mingling at lesbian-owned Urban Cafe (http://www.urbancafechicago.com). This unique evening will feature a cooking demo by Chef Jenny Urban, hands-on practice by attendees, and (last but not least) casual conversation with other women. The topic of the night will be sushi, vegetarian-style. Chef Jenny first will walk you through the art of preparing sushi ingredients. Next, she will lead you through the hands-on exercise of rolling your own sushi. Finally, you will then savor the delectable taste of the sushi that you have rolled. Feel free to bring some Kirin (a Japanese beer), sake (rice wine), or other alcoholic beverages to enhance your palette! We will be happy to refrigerate your beverage and we have no corkage fees. Cost: $19.75 must be paid to the store directly before July 6. Women only.
