St Joan of the Stockyards

Laced with humor and poignant songs, St Joan of the Stockyards transforms Jeanne d'Arc, peasant girl from 15th-century France, into Joan Dark, charity worker in 20th-century Chicago. Like her predecessor, Joan is a doomed innocent in a business world of strike breakers and fat cats who make secret deals and squeeze the workers for every penny. Joan's world spins out of control when she makes the WIndy City's infamous stockyards her field of battle and clashes with the wheeling-dealing owner of a meat-packing plant over the heart of capitalism and the soul of idealism.
