Reeling: The 24th Day

This psychological thriller explores the ever-shifting dynamic between the seducer and the seduced. When Dan (X-Men’s James Marsden) meets Tom (Felicity’s Scott Speedman) at a bar, he isn’t looking for anything more than a one-night stand. Unfortunately, Tom has other ideas, which begin with holding the bewildered Dan hostage! Mind games abound as Tom struggles to get his sinister kicks and Dan finds himself scheming for survival. The 24th Day takes some unexpected plot twists and is certain to linger in your thoughts long after the lights have gone up. 35mm, 92 min.

Reeling: Un Amour de Femme

This is the sensual story of two passionate women weighing the undeniability of their love against forces that would keep them apart. Jeanne is a successful osteopath in Paris, healing others through massage and touch. But Jeanne’s own need to be touched isn’t being satisfied, despite her seemingly happy marriage. When she meets the enigmatic dancer Marie, long-dormant desires are awakened. Jeanne enrolls in a dance class Marie teaches, and begins to reacquaint herself with her own body, and with the expression of her inner passion. Helene Fillieres, as Jeanne, is a formidable screen presence, and Raffaëla Anderson (Baise Moi), as the enigmatic Marie, is the very picture of courageous self-determination. Video, 89 min.

Reeling: Cowboys & Angels

Boyishly gleeful and unmistakably Irish, Cowboys & Angels dismantles both gay and straight stereotypes as it presents a relationship between flatmates who truly have everything to learn from each other. When Vincent meets Shane, he sees little more than a Queer Eye makeover project. Gradually, Shane gains confidence under Vincent’s tutelage – unfortunately, just enough to perturb the dangerous drug dealers downstairs! Now the roommates are in for the ride of their lives, ducking and dodging the thugs with unforgettable flair! Will the boys escape the unwanted attention of the drug dealers? Will Vincent’s career as an upstart fashion designer ever take off? Will Shane ever be ready to go into Abercrombie & Fitch unsupervised? Learn the answer to these questions and more in this funny story of fraud, friendship, and fashion victims that L.A. Weekly calls “thoroughly engaging...superb.” 35mm, 89 min.

Reeling: Nine Lives

Nine Lives is a voyeuristic, Altman-esque journey that follows nine individuals as their lives intersect – emotionally, sexually, and dangerously – over the course of a single hectic day. Among our cast of characters are over-the-hill Ronnie, enjoying his new cyber-identity as hotpozdad@aol.com; Mikey, an introspective drug dealer who has a casual infatuation with a sexy hustler; and television producer Daniel, his hunky boyfriend Corey, and their pool boy, Carlos, whose bourgeois ménage á trois threatens to get out of control. The impressive cast includes MAD TV’s hilarious Debra Wilson, Dennis Christopher (Breaking Away), and Michael Kearns (The Waltons, And the Band Played On). Video, 80 min.
