Sidetrack is probably Chicago's largest gay club without a dance floor. Shining woods and exposed brick contrast against the silvery polished steel stools and metallic wall coverings.
Screen after screen lines the wall of this modern and ultra-clean video bar, the bathrooms feel like they've been beamed directly down from an orbiting rocket ship. The space is divided into four separate bars, the newest addition juts upward in an expansive launch towards the sky, glass doors separate it from the adjacent patio.
The older section consists of three separate bars, a little more dimly lit. The crowd--late twenty-somethings on up to men in their fifties, sometimes even sixties--is mostly made up of professionals. The beautiful boys seem to plant themselves smack dab in the middle of the newest bar near the patio, but most men don't stand still for long—they take lap after lap in what is one of the crusiest scenes on Halsted.
Special nights include show tunes Sundays, comedy Thursdays, '80s night, and the very crowded weekends. Best bet is to grab one of their famous slushy drinks and settle down--with all the cruising, who even needs a dance floor?

I was at Sidetracks a few weeks ago. I'm a curious male and heard this is a fun bar. Went there in the early evening. Went upstairs and sat at the bar and noticed the bartenders were hot!! I also noticed there were a lot of women(fag hags)and they were hot too. I was an observer all night but this cute guy(Michael from Michigan) talked to me. Would love to go back there.

I enjoy going to Sidetracks when finding myself a Sugar Daddy for the weekend. I also enjoy just sitting around and hanging with my friends there. I'm not much of a show tunes guy, but its fun to watch others get into it. A fun place!

Lived in chicago for three years, have not been back for four years; I will be going to chicago this labor day weekend and number one on my list of "must sees" is Sidetrack. I can't wait to immerse myself in the atmosphere; friendly, laid-back, and completely lacking the attitude found at the "twink" bars. I've been going to Toronto recently and there is a bar named "Woodies"; it is obviously a shameless (and pale) ripoff of the supreme original...Sidetrack!

What can i say Sidetracks is a fn place to be the bartenders are place is big many rooms to hang out in and the boys let me say mmm mmm mmm there so many to look at there's no cover to get in so go check it out i bet u will have a good time

I just returned from visiting Sidetrack in Chicago and I had an absolute blast!! The drinks were the BEST, the atmosphere was awesome and the guys were hot as hell! We got there around 4pm and didn't leave until after 1am. So, obviously, there was nowhere else I wanted to be. The bartenders were the best in town! They don't get any better! And the crowd was great and VERY friendly. But the best part of the whole night was one of the guys who worked there, Brian. He was absolutely wonderful!! He was warm, friendly and funny as hell. He is definitely one of the biggest reasons we will be going back in the future.
You have GOT to make Sidetrack a must-stop on your next visit to Chi-town. There's no other place to go! "Janie"
