Okay, first of all, all AUTHENTIC Italian restaurants will serve wine in a juice glass. That's how they drink it in Italy. Sometimes they even use bowls! Only snobs use the rich communists use those thin-stemmed glasses. Anyway, this is a very authentic southern Italian restuarant, of which Chicago is in dire need. The only draw back is the portions they serve. They are VERY small, as small as the portions of a microwave dinner. Someone should tell the owners that they are in America. Americans like to have something to take home in a doggy bag!

We went for the Valentine's Day holiday. They didn't have the normal menu to my understanding. This was the first time my partner and I have ever been there. The wine doesn’t come in a traditional wine glass it comes in a small juice glass and that was a surprise. The menu was limited however, it was a very good dinner. We started with appetizers of Brie and Scallops. The Brie was great, as you cut it the cheese oozed out and when it mixed with the tomatoes on the plate it was fantastic. The scallops were obviously 2 large ones then cut in half to make 4 scallops. This was very savory and detectible with the dressed greens. If you don’t like vinaigrettes then you wouldn’t like it. The main entrees that were ordered were the Tomato Gnocci with Gorgonzola cheese and Shrimp wrapped in bacon with polenta.
I had the shrimp with the bacon but it was a little salty. The bacon was sliced in half length wise and wrapped around the shrimp. The polenta was also very savory with the green onions and the tomato accents.
My partner had the Tomato Gnocci with Gorgonzola cheese in which she stated it was absolutely delicious. Every morsel was magnificent.

Angelina's hits all the right notes. Mind you, those notes do come at a price. The food is of a good quality but could be better for the price. It is a gem tucked into a strip on Broadway that is greasy spoon mexican and broken down, "I'lll never go in there", bar. Do try it.

Great spot for that first date. Very romantic and the food is always good. The waiters are usually quite hot as well.
