I have been to this bar a few timers, but was with a partner. Nice bartender, but not sure how easy to meet the clientel.
Seems like a friendly enough place though.

10/16/04 Ok, I have lived in Chicago for the past 6 years and I've never heard of this bar...I'm going there soon on my first visit, so I'll come back here and let you all know what I think of it.
..Ciao! -Chicago 1st Timer

A correction to a previous review. There were 2 undercover cops, not 20. The days of the back room are over boys! This is a bar, not a bookstore, or a bathouse.
If you want to get off, go to the Bijou! To change the tone, the atmoshpere is nice, the music is good, friendly bartenders, and stiff drinks.

FYI: On Friday, August 13th 20 undercover cops stormed into the Second Story Bar and arrested two men for having oral sex.
Use caution in the back room!

I was visiting Chicago and staying downtown and didn't want to venture too far my first night. This place was great.
The drinks were stong, the people were friendly. I stumbled back to the hotel a lot later than I ever thought I would. Thanks for the fun, 2nd Story Bar!!!

This is a bar where the down and dirty hard drinkers go. Last Saturday night 06/23/04 there was a fight in the bar which provided lively entertainment.
The bartenders are very nice and considerate. Not your average bar. But fun!

I recently moved to Chicago from NYC and I like how it's a very neighborhood bar you would find somewhere in Murray Hill or 14th Street or very east Grammercy (don't want to say east Village) - maybe the UWS before they torn down that bath to put up the AOL/Warner bldg.
But I try to figure out - who the f*ck's neighborhood is this? I have come across all kinds in there.. "str8" guys after work "waiting for the train", a couple of hookers, some deaf guys, some people from the suburbs, some shop girls off from work, tourists, business travelers, old guys, students, drunks, and people who I have been told remember when they showed films in the back and you could have sex. It's more like a New York bar now. But, I just can't figure out what neighborhood they are referring to. At least the bath rooms are large and have a lock.
