The Big Chill

Artic Babylon Storms into Chicago
By William Jenning

THINGS ARE HEATING UP IN THE ARCTIC THIS summer, and we're not just talking about Al Gore movies.

Something much sexier than global warming is headed our way this pride weekend. Circuit Nightclub and the Toronto-based Embrace Productions are teaming up to bring the uber-hot Arctic Babylon Tour to Chicago on Saturday, June 30.

Now in their fifth year, the Babylon tours have made quite a name for themselves among the circuit elite. Tour creator and producer Adam Gill of Embrace aims to live up to that reputation by bringing the Midori-sponsored tour to Chicago with one of the hottest young DJs on the circuit, Brett Henrichsen.

"I'm always thrilled when Brett is playing a Babylon event," Gill says. "He's fresh and exciting. He brings all the power and action that you'd ever want from a DJ, plus he adds a big musical edge to the event."

Henrichsen aims to live up to the faith Gill places in him on this stop of the 17-city tour, giving Chicago's dancing queens something to talk about, if only they could hear each other over the pulsing beat.

enrichsen is accompanied by dance and design duo RKM, who created the arctic theme and design for the show and have been with the tour since its inception. The Cirque-like performers hail from South Florida.

With all the heat expected from the performers, it's ironic that the promoters chose the Arctic theme. Nevertheless, look for ice to be projected throughout Circuit, that is if it doesn't melt before it makes its way to the dance floor.

ARCTIC BABYLON takes place at Circuit, 3641 N Halsted, on Saturday, June 30th. (Event Details) For additional information, visit www.enterbabylon.com.
