August 20 - 23

Only a few "official weeks" left of Summer, I hope that you're making the most of it. There's plenty to do this weekend, the Rodeo is in town and so is Rudy de La Mor or perhaps you just want to take it easy and spend the weekend at Hollywood Beach. Whatever you do, get out there and have some fun!

THURSDAY, AUGUST 20

'In Good Company' Chicago's ONLY "premiere introduction" company is hosting a Dating Workshop tonight to help you get yourself ready for the dating scene. Cost is $25 and includes refreshments.

If you're all set and ready to date, and you are a nerd - or a geek lover, then head up to FatKat for the monthly Nerds At Heart - Gay Edition. Meet up with others who have embraced their inner-geekdom for a night of board games, cocktails and trivia. $20 in advance/$25 door, purchase tickets online.

Project Runway starts tonight so why not head on over to your favorite watering hole grab a cosmo and watch the premiere. Lots of changes for this years show as they jumped networks (from BRAVO to Lifetime) but also move across the country from NY and set this season in Los Angeles. I can only imagine that the show will have a completely different look and feel. Head on over to the Glenwood or Crew Bar + Grill to take in all the fashion!

FRIDAY, AUGUST 21

The B-52's are headlining at the House Of Blues tonight, General Admission tix are $56. They performed at Atlanta Pride back in the early 90's and they were fabulous then - I can only imagine that they've gotten better with age!

'Social Retardation? There's an App for That' opened at Hydrate last weekend. I haven't had a chance to see it yet, but friends that did enjoyed it. The show 'gayly explores the irony of technology’s attempt to simplify communication, while inadvertently driving people further and further a part.' The show runs Fri/Sat at 9PM thru 9/12. Tix are $10

Rudy de la Mor will take to the keys of ebony and ivory at Club 3160 at 9PM, he's only here through the end of the month so make sure you get down there to see an amazing performance.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 22

HRC Chicago is holding their 2nd Annual HRC Pub Crawl starting at 1PM today with registration at Halsted's and then hitting Roscoes, Cocktail, Minibar and ending at Spin. Tix are $10

The monthly Sappho's Salon will lead off with a Slam Poetry Night at 7:30PM Featuring cin salach, DeDe, and special guest DJ SpinNikki $7-$10 sliding scale includes food and wine.

Performance Artist Paul Zaloom presents 'Fruit of Zaloom' at Links Hall at 8PM. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online or at the door.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 23

The fun starts with the prelims at 10AM follwoed by the semi-finals and finals at noon. $45 in advance/$65 door. Purchase tix online. A few of my friends are playing, it will be hilarious to see them in drag!

Catch the classic Hitchcock film Rear Window starring Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly at the Music Box Theater for a special matinee showing at 11:30AM. The Music Box is an amazing place to see films on screen that most of us have only ever seen on TV.

Have you been to Wicker Parks "Boys Night - Premier Gay Art + Music + Industry Night" at Plan B? It's the hip place to be on Sunday nights. Tonight you can hear the soundscapes of Trey, CT and guest DJ Larissa (from Berlin). Check it out from 8PM-2AM!

Michael was the only member of his Elementary School A/V Club. He now spends most of his time editing videos of him lip-synching to Miley Cyrus songs, playing with the latest coolest gadgets and uploading photos to the interwebs, all while trying to spiral uncontrollably into becoming a multi-media conglomeration; oh yeah, and he's got a blog.
