Chicago, IL — Barry Harris and Chris Cox, better known to most as Thunderpuss, have dominated the Billboard dance charts over the last three years.  In October, the duo called it quits.

The hit making remix/production team of Harris and Cox first met back in 1990 and eight years later they formed Thunderpuss.  The duo has been credited for bringing a harder club sound to many pop tracks insuring instant dance-floor success.  Some of the biggest artists in the world have the Thunderpuss name in their credits. Cher, Madonna, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Shakira, Anastascia and Amber are just a few.  Since their inception, Thunderpuss produced an astounding 23 #1 Billboard hits.

Harris and Cox are still actively remixing and producing.  Both continue touring the country and spinning at some of the biggest clubs and parties in the nation.

Hydrate Chicago booked both Harris and Cox independently in December.  Chris Cox returns to Hydrate Chicago Friday, March 5th.  Event Details

Chris Cox Biography
Chris Cox defies labels.  As a remixer, producer, artist, DJ and label owner, he has made his mark in so many ways that restricting him to one title seems foolish.  He's dance music's P. Diddy-minus the restaurant and clothing line, of course.  Give him time and those may happen too.

As half of the award-winning remix/production duo Thunderpuss, Chris Cox has worked on records for the world's biggest stars, including Madonna, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Lopez and Cher.  As recording artists, Thunderpuss made history in early 2003 with "Head," the first record ever to top a Billboard chart (in this case, the Hot Dance Music/Club Play list) without being signed to a label.  It was the third Number One for Chris and partner Barry Harris of their own material.

Chris, an acclaimed DJ with regular bookings across the U.S., has expanded his international profile with recent gigs in Paris, Rio and Mexico City.  His potent blend of tribal rhythms and soaring vocals is a hit in both straight and gay clubs; growing up in the former arena, he has become a DJ icon in the latter.  He has played everything from Playboy events to underground gay leather parties without batting an eye.

Chris also scored his first solo chart-topper in 2003 with "I Believe," a reworking of the mid '90s Happy Clappers single.  The new version was released on Chris' own Provocative Music label, a venture with Jeff Johnson.  (The two previously teamed for the now-defunct, Grammy-winning Interhit Records.)

And while his contemporaries are out on the town seven nights a week, Chris retreats to his suburban Los Angeles home to spend time with his wife and two young daughters.  He is a major player in the dance music world and often so removed from it all at once.  Achieving that balance may be what keeps him focused on progressing to the next stage of his career.

"I've devoted so much of my life to it," Chris says.  "My time, my money, my health, my social life and relationships, for the love of music and the love of the crowd and the love of what I do.  I always kind of knew it would be a worthwhile payoff.  I never quite knew what I was going to attain, but I knew I would attain something."

He certainly has-and the future for Chris Cox only looks brighter with each passing day.
