It’s about time that the stale Circuit scene gave us some fresh meat! Newcomer Alyson Calagna delivers the goods with her new mix compilation entitled “Party Groove: A Weekend in Oz” on Centaur.  What the circuit refers to as Alyson’s ‘unique sound’ is nothing more than what we Chicagoans call good ole’ fashioned UNDERGROUND music.  Covering some mainstream standards such as Rubin-Vega’s “Rocket Man” and Amuka’s “Appreciate Me”, Alyson shines through with her flawless mixing and underground selection on tracks such as “I Need Somebody” by Sesssomatto and “Calinda” by Laurent Wolf.  Treat yourself to something different and pick up this groovy release.  – Chris Eterno

Take a progressive heavyweight re-mixer Satoshi Tomiie and add a ferocious DJ Hector Romero and you get “Undulation 1” mix compilation on SAW records.  Highlighting the deep groovier side of Progressive House, this compilation takes us on a smooth ride through SAW record's greatest dance tracks.  Proggy staples such as Meat Katie’s “K-hole” and Lexicon Avenue’s “Why Are You Here” line this mix.  Track 8 is a DJ delight with 3 tracks mixed at once for a unique listening experience.  Those who like a deep trippy ride should dig this CD.  - CE

Do you like to Chill? Nettwerk Records’ new CD “Chill Out 4: The Ultimate Chill Out” allows for just that! Sit back with your friends, roll a fattie, and enjoy the ride! Blended, not really beat mixed, this compilation includes unique chill mixes of Radiohead’s “Everything in it’s Right Place”, Delerium’s “Magic”, Conjure One’s “Center of the Sun”, and Bjork’s new cut “It’s In Our Hands”.  Very relaxing and appropriate for the after-after set, pick this up for a cute listening experience.  - CE

Toni Braxton makes a marketing savvy move with her latest release “Ultimate Toni Braxton” on Arista Records.  I mean, what better way to get gay boys to buy her product than to make a greatest hits compilation, add 2 unreleased tracks, and include a dance mix of “Un-break My Heart”.  The first 15 hits tracks span her 11 year career of chart hits, while new tracks “The Little Things” and “Whatchu Need” have chart potential.  For Toni fans, this CD is a must have for your collection.  – CE

There isn’t much to tell about greatest hits compilations: Either you love the artist’s repertoire or you don’t.  Donna Summer’s latest hits CD, “The Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer” on Universal delivers the standard Summer madness by covering a longer time span, from 1975’s “Love to Love You” through 1999’s “Con Te Partiro’”.  Included on the compilation is Donna’s new single “So Beautiful”.  Re-mixed by Tony Moran, this new track promises Donna her next trip to the top of the charts.  If you like Summer, then pick up this complete collection of classics.  – CE
