Normal, IL — Illinois State University will feature media historian Steven Capsuto at the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questing and Ally Cultural dinner on Monday, October 25, at 5 PM in the Escalante Conference Room of Wattterson Towers. The dinner is open to the public.

Tickets are available from October 11-21 at any of the Campus Dining Centers at $7.25 for Illinois State students, faculty and staff or $7.25 plus tax for the general public.

Capsuto, author of Alternate Channels: The Uncensored Story of Gay and Lesbian Images in Radio and Television, is a media historian. He will present Alternate Channels: The History of the Media in the Closet, a presentation on the history of queer images in American media tracing the path from Bob Hope’s “fairy” jokes to today. Capsuto was the director of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Archives of Philadelphia.
