Chicago, IL — In published reports in the Windy City Times and Chicago Free Press, Chicago police say at this time there is no direct connection between the murders of 3 gay Chicago men, Charles Gibson, Brad Winters, and Kevin Clewer.

The statement was part of a November 10th meeting called by police at Ald. Mary Ann Smith office to address a November 9th report on WBBM Newsradio 780.  Only the Chicago Free Press and Windy City Times were invited to the meeting, WBBM-AM and other mainstream media were not included.

The WBBM-AM report indicated the recent murder of Gibson in the Edgewater Neighborhood shared a number of similarities to the brutal murders of Winters and Clewer in Lakeview.

According to WBBM-AM, Gibson frequented the same Halsted Street bar where both Winters and Clewer were last seen alive.  Police dispute this report.

The Chicago Free Press reported that a sketch of a black male suspect in the Gibson case is expected within days, police issued a sketch of a male Latino suspect in the Clewer investigation. (Composite Sketch) No suspect has been identified in the murder of Winters.
