The meteoric rise of DJ Paulo during the past few years has been a blessing to those who prefer their beats with a bit more of an underground feel to them.  A fixture on the Los Angeles after-hours scene for years, Paulo has leveraged his critically acclaimed performance at the 2001 Palm Springs White Party into peak-hours success worldwide.  During the past couple of years this truly international DJ – Paulo hails originally from Portugal – has planted himself firmly among the ranks of headlining DJs, performing at many prestigious parties: Philadelphia’s Blue Ball, New York’s Black Party and Alegria, Dallas’ Purple Party, Detroit’s Motorball, The Volcano Party in Hawaii, and IML Weekend in Chicago.

In Los Angeles, Paulo began building his popularity by spinning the Tom of Finland Man-o’-Rama parties. “The tremendous fanfare surrounding those parties opened a lot of doors for me,” says Paulo. “It led to opportunities outside of LA which eventually propelled me into the league of the national party DJs.” Past residencies for Paulo in the City of Angels include Stereo and Spin and he is now frequently in the DJ booths at Ego, Reload, Here, and The Factory.

Outside his Southern California homebase, Paulo has traveled quite a bit throughout the U.S. turning dance floors on with his tribalistic sound.  Expertly combining heavy, yet energetic, beats with soaring vocal progressive tracks in his sets, Paulo has the unique ability to please a wide spectrum of clubbers and party-goer who keep the dance floor packed whenever he’s in the DJ booth.  Booked and traveling to a gig almost every weekend of the year, Paulo’s club dates are as impressive at his party credits and include Mezzanine in San Francisco, Sound-Bar and Hydrate Chicago, SBNY in NYC, Chrome in Tampa, and Boulevard in Miami.  Internationally, Paulo has played various location in Mexico and Brazil and wowed the whole country of Canada with recent appearances in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.  Paulo has even had a playdate on Ibiza at Trade, an achievement that few American-based DJs can claim.

When not in the DJ booth at a club or party, Paulo is usually busy in the studio working on remix projects.  His first commercial remix of Pepper MaShay’s “Dive In The Pool” is considered a dance floor staple. Paulo’s remixes of Thunderpuss’ “Papa Got A Brand New Pig Bag” and Pepper MaShay’s “I’ve Got My Pride” both charted prominently on Billboard and his productions of Amuka’s “Appreciate Me”, Ceevox’s “Wurking”, and Danny Tenaglia’s “Elements” have been included in the DJ sets of Ralphi Rosario, Abel, Danny Tenaglia and Victor Calderone.  Paulo’s latest work includes a remix of Suzanne Palmer’s “Luv 2 Luv” on Star 69 Records and “Love Song”, an ode to U.K. legend Ofra Haza on Tommy Boy Records. “My goal is to continue the production route and bring new things to my events that aren’t available anywhere else.”
