Chicago, IL — Dan Smith and Steve McDonagh, owners of Hearty Boys Catering, officially open their own signature restaurant "HB" today.  HB is a spin-off of Hearty Boys Catering and Café.  Located in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood at 3404 N. Halsted, dinner service is available Tues. through Sun from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and weekend brunch is served Sat. and Sun from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Reservations are accepted at 773.661.0299.

“This is something we've wanted to do for a long time,” says Steve McDonagh.  “People rave about our food at all the special events we do, so we wanted a restaurant that featured our style and quality of food.” McDonagh and his partner Dan Smith a/k/a “The Hearty Boys” are about to get their own rave reviews when they are seen in a national reality show airing on The Food Network every Sunday evening in June.  McDonagh and Smith compete against seven others from around the country for their own six-part cooking series in "The Next Food Network Star." foodnetwork.com.

HB’s menu is inspired by Hearty Boys Catering.  In addition, HB will offer seasonal specials as well as special seasonal dishes and promotions (including holiday meals to go).

HB’s menu offers a sophisticated variety of appetizers from Smoked Trout Bisque with Orange Oil and Toasted Almonds; Artichoke and Prosciuto Fritters; Goat Cheese, Crimini and Leek Stuffed Ravioli.  Dinner entrees include Orchiette Pasta tossed with a Wild Mushroom, Thyme Cream Sauce; Roasted Chicken Breast topped with a Lemon Poppy Seed Butter; Double-Cut Pork Chop stuffed with Pumpernickel Smoked Oyster Bread Pudding over a White Bean Maque Choux; Seared Norwegian Salmon Filet; Pan Fried Soft Shell Crabs over a Salad of Watermelon, Feta and Mint; and, Hearty Boys popular dish - Big Fat Stuffed Veal Meatballs with a Crunchy Crust and Lingonberries, over a Sweet Pea Puree with Roasted Chanterelles and Potato Sticks.
