Chicago, IL — Chicago White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen was fined and suspended Thursday for 'completely unacceptable' language.

The outspoken Guillen on Tuesday called Chicago Sun-Times columnist Jay Mariotti a "fag,"

Since, Guillen apologized for offending homosexuals saying he had only directed the slur at one person.  'I will apologize to the people I offended because I should have used another word,' Guillen said.

"I shouldn't have mentioned the name that was mentioned, but I'm not going to back off of Jay," ESPN reported Guillen said on Wednesday, as he used another profanity to describe Mariotti. "The word I used, I should have used something different. A lot of people's feelings were hurt and I didn't mean it that way."

Guillen continued to defend his actions telling Chicago Sun-Times Columnist Greg Couch that he has gay friends, attends WNBA games, went to a Madonna concert and plans to go to the Gay Games in Chicago.

"I don't have anything against those people. In my country, you call someone something like that and it is not the same as it is in this country," Guillen told Couch.

'Ozzie Guillen used language that is offensive and completely unacceptable,' Selig said. 'Baseball is a social institution with responsibility to set appropriate tone and example. Conduct or language that reflects otherwise will not be tolerated. The use of slurs embarrasses the individual, the club and the game.'
