Chicago, IL — Do Sugar Plum Fairies seem nice, but you long for a little more spice? If so, ‘tis the season to start a new holiday tradition! Audiences will find fresh holiday entertainment this season at the Lakeshore Theater, where Chicago's hilarious dynamic musical and comedy duo Amy Armstrong and Freddy Allen take the mainstage for a limited December engagement in their first-ever holiday revue, HOW THE DIVA STOLE CHRISTMAS.

Warm up by the stage light on a cold winter night with vocalist and diva-extraordinaire Amy Armstrong accompanied by the highly talented Freddy Allen at the piano.  DIVA CHRISTMAS will feature classic songs and musical numbers (Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, Santa Baby, The 12 Drinks of Christmas) along with some not-so-traditional surprises along the way.  The following holiday customs will not be featured in this show: cute children; staged nativity scenes involving real livestock; dancing Santas; figure skaters; elves; singing Santas; scenic backdrops of quaint villages and fake snow.

The duo's renowned, no-holds-barred stage persona will keep audiences ripping and roaring throughout the night and well into the wee morning hours.  To help in their efforts spreading holiday cheer throughout the land, Amy & Freddy are proud to welcome a new special guest joining them on stage at each performance.  Confirmed guests include: Jazz great Spider Saloff (Dec. 1 & 2); Cabaret legend Honey West (Dec. 8 & 9); and a spectacular finale (Dec. 15) with a chorus of singers.

Amy & Freddy present HOW THE DIVA STOLE CHRISTMAS on Friday & Saturday, 10 p.m. at the Lakeshore Theater, 3175 N. Broadway, on Chicago's north side, December 1st - 15th.  Tickets are priced at $25 and available now at the Lakeshore Theater Box Office (3175 N. Broadway St.), by calling (773) 472-3492, or logging onto www.lakeshoretheater.com.

Pre-show drink specials will be available in the lobby bar before each show starting at 9 p.m.

About Amy & Freddy

Chicago-based Amy Armstrong and Freddy Allen have been captivating audiences for over ten years and have performed in cities coast to coast, including Los Angeles, New York, St. Louis, Key West, San Francisco, St. Paul, Seattle, Detroit, Saugatuck, Provincetown, Denver, Puerto Vallarta, Ft. Lauderdale, Grand Rapids and Chicago.  In 1998, their travels took them to Denmark where they were the featured artists at Copenhagen's New Year's Concert.  They have been the opening act for several familiar names including Mary Wilson and the Supremes, Phyllis Diller, Bea Arthur, Jennifer Holiday, Judy Tenuta, Lois Bromfeld, and Judy Gold.  For over six years, they have been considered as one of the most popular Cabaret acts for RSVP Cruise Lines.  RSVP has hired Amy and Freddy as their 2006 “Entertainment Ambassadors.”

Originally from Detroit, Amy has been a professional entertainer since she was a young child. Her powerful and soulful voice mesmerizes listeners while her hilarious and risqué humor keeps them doubled over in laughter.  Amy made her home in Chicago in 1995 and has quickly risen to become one of the Windy City's hottest talents.

Freddy, Amy's pianist and music director, has been a professional musician for over twenty years.  After moving from St. Louis in 1995, Freddy successfully made his name as one of Chicago's most well known pianists.  When he's not performing with Amy, Freddy works as a freelance musician and teaches piano and voice.

Amy and Freddy have produced four very successful and critically acclaimed albums: Amy and Freddy - the debut, Life is a Cabaret, Naturally Flawless and Feeling Good.

Amy's beautiful voice, edgy humor and quick wit, combined with Freddy's impeccable musical arrangements and sly repartee, come together to form a dynamic duo, presenting an enjoyable and unforgettable entertainment experience.
