Los Angeles, CA — After being rejected (and then later approved) for a visa to enter the United States, singer Amy Winehouse will perform for the Grammy Awards on Sunday via satellite. Winehouse, who has been living at a drug rehab clinic for two weeks, has been nominated for six Grammy Awards—including Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

A statement released on Thursday by Winehouse's publicity team said: "The singer has been invited to appear at the event on Sunday after receiving an amazing six nominations for the prestigious awards. Unfortunately, her application for a visa to enter the United States of America has been rejected at this time by the American Embassy in London."

The rejection, however, was reversed on Friday, leading some to speculate the singer would make it to the awards ceremony after all. Alas, fans will still have to make do with a beamed performance from the UK, according to a statement released by Winehouse's publicists.

"Unfortunately, due to the logistics involved and timing complications, Amy will not be coming to the U.S. this weekend to perform at the Grammys in Los Angeles, however she will still be performing via satellite broadcast from London as previously announced this morning."

In preperation for her performance on Sunday, Winehouse will leave the rehab clinic where she has been undergoing therapy, but will remain under medical supervision. "She is feeling great, looking healthy and looking forward to doing what she does best," her publicity team stated.

"I'm raring to go and really excited to be performing at my first Grammy Awards," Winehouse said in a statement on Access Hollywood on Friday. "I'd like to thank everyone for their support over the last couple of weeks. I'm really sorry I can't be there but I appreciate that I'm being given a second chance via satellite."

The statement continued: "Amy would like to thank all of those people, and in particular the staff involved at the U.S. Embassy in London, who have all worked so hard to expedite her application. She is very sad not to be attending the prestigious awards in person, but wishes to express her heartfelt gratitude to all of those involved in the process."

Winehouse's performance will be broadcast live from a London recording studio. The 24-year-old singer, who has been maligned often in the press for her drug use, checked into a rehab facility on January 24 after a video surfaced of her appearing to be smoking crack coceine.

The visa to visit the United States to perform in person at the Grammys was originally denied to Winehouse because of a previous conviction for possesion of marijuana, according to Egossip.com.

Winehouse is nominated for six Grammy Awards: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Female Performance, Album of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album.
