New York City — Music mogul Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) and singer Beyonce Knowles were married in a secretive, private wedding on Friday, according to a report by People Magazine. Guests at the ceremony reportedly included Beyonce's family, Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams and friend Gwyneth Paltrow.

Rumors of an impending wedding for 37 year-old Jay-Z and 26 year-old Knowles began spreading earlier this week when People Magazine said the couple had taken out a marriage license in New York. PerezHilton.com reported a wedding ceremony was scheduled to take place on Friday at Jay-Z's New York penthouse apartment.

According to People.com, an unidentified friend of the couple spilled the news late on Friday night. "It happened earlier this evening," the source said. "Jay wanted it to be a really private affair—close friends and family."

Reuters reports men in tuxedos were seen on the roof of the Tribeca apartment building, where a large white tent had been erected earlier in the day. A horde of papparazi was stationed outside the building hoping to catch a glimpse of the rumored wedding guests. Guests allegedly enjoyed a luxurious reception after the ceremony,partying until approximately 3 a.m. on Saturday.

Several gossip bloggers speculated the secretive wedding might be foreshadowing of a baby on the way for Jay-Z and Knowles. Knowles has been noted wearing voluminous outfits recently and carrying larger, more concealing bags.

Knowles and Jay-Z have been dating since 2002. No official word on the wedding from either Knowles or Jay-Z has yet been announced.
