Chicago, IL — Responding to rumors that Bailiwick Repertory, 1229 W. Belmont, was closing and that he had left town, founder and artistic director David Zak said that neither was true.
"I've heard those rumors," Zak told Windy City Times. "There are changes down the road, and I'll be sure to let you know," he said, adding, "we are looking forward to an exciting Pride series in September and October."
The repertory is currently running Tell Me on a Sunday, with such productions as Chiaroscuro ( A Study in Shadow ) scheduled to run soon.

The Bailwick has been such an interesting place; nice size & friendly staff.
I for one am glad it's a part of our community.

This is the first I've heard this rumor and I'm shocked. David Zack and his staff have produced some excellent, daring and often thought-provoking entertainment for both straight and gay audiences and it would be a terrible shame if this venue were to close its doors. I want to urge the GLBT community to please get out there and support this fine theater so that Bailiwick can continue to be the artistic force its proven itself to be of late. Without audiences a theater cannot continue to survive.
