Las Vegas, NV — Singing legend and gay icon Cher has canceled her remaining Las Vegas shows because she is suffering from 'Vegas throat,' a condition caused by the dry desert air, according to the Daily Mail.
According to the paper, Caesar's Palace says the 62-year-old is suffering from asthma-related bronchitis though Cher's publicist Liz Rosenberg claims she is suffering from 'Vegas throat.' Rosenberg also denied tabloid rumors that Cher has been suffering from chronic abdominal problems.
Cher canceled six shows over the weekend, her last performances scheduled there for the year, but plans to return to the Palace for a running gig in early 2009.
Caesars reportedly spent millions of dollars installing a special humidifier in The Colosseum showroom, which was especially built for Celine Dion's long-running show.
'Cher looks forward to her return to The Colosseum early next year with performances to be announced soon," according to a Cesar's statement.

Vegas Throat is a common southwest desert lifestyle problem and has plagued Vegas performers since the beginning. I lived in Las Vegas for 43 years and can attest to the debilitating effects of this problem. Sore throat, flu-like symptoms, sinus infection, asthma, and bronchitis are complications from Vegas throat.

I hope that Cher can make a speedy recovery & that she has nothing more than what they say. Cher is so talented & would never let her fans down unless she really is very sick. Get well Cher. Even tho I will never make it to Vegas, I only want the best for you health-wise (and in all things, of course). I hope people don't get mad because she had to cancel at the last minute. I'm sure it wouldn't have happened unless absolutely necessary.
