The full-size pliers include a newly designed jaw to handle twice the squeeze-load as the previous version with no extra weight added. A straight-knife, three extended screwdrivers and a bottle and can opener fold neatly and tightly inside the tool. Leatherman's rugged Zytel handle grips ensure a firm and comfortable hold. This multitool also contains a fixed lanyard ring and a leather sheath. Key User Features Efficiency is the name of Kick's game. Thoughtful engineering means that a tapped screw allows you to choose a pocket clip (sold separately) instead of a belt sheath. Kick has the same super-strong pliers as larger Leatherman tools, but its narrow shape and light weight keep you moving. The Kick's interior features are supremely easy to access -- just swing open the handles and rotate the blades out using the convenient nail nicks. The scissors open the same way, with a swift rotation and a nail nick; and when the scissors are fully extended, they lock into place. All of the tools available in the Kick are made from 100-percent stainless steel, engineered to the optimum grade hardness for each individual tool. The Kick features a system of straight blades, which can be sharpened by using standard sharpening methods, for easy maintenance. The Kick's thoughtful engineering means sharp, strong, long blades and twice the gripping power of the previous model. | Expand your Kick's capabilities with genuine Leatherman accessories like this removable bit driver or pocket clip (both sold separately) | Multitool Capabilities: - Needlenose pliers

The Leatherman Tool Group and its History of Quality
In 1975, Leatherman Tool Group founder Tim Leatherman was inspired by leaky pipes and a cranky car on a budget trip to Europe -- and thus the idea for his first pocket survival tool was conceived. Since then, Leatherman has become an internationally recognized company with hundreds of employees and a wide variety of durable, versatile, stylish products. Created with bold designs and truly rugged construction, Leatherman products are a perfect addition for tool kits, emergency sets, and glove compartments everywhere.

Back when I was a kid, if you had a Swiss Army Knife & a Maglite, you were on top of the world. There wasn't anything in the outdoors, or your dad's garage, that you couldn't handle. I sawed twigs, built a birdhouse, cut bait, cut twine, cut fishing line, opened cans, opened bottles, sliced salami, cut PB&J into quarters for sharing, took out splinters with the tweezers, changed batteries, and took apart everything around the house that had fasteners that the knife could turn. It was a glorious time. The envy of all the other 8 year olds in the 3rd grade. That first knife followed me to school all the way to college. Back in those days, teachers didn't freak out about a kid with a weapon if you had a Swiss Army or a Buck Knife.
My Buck Knife was always on my hip, in a leather holster, for all the other kids in Middle School to be jealous of. As a little boy, I was able to split sandwiches in half for sharing, slice apples for the teacher, and every little boy loved it when the pretty teacher asked to borrow his Buck Knife to open envelopes and packages with.
Back in those days, the world was simpler. We didn't have crack cocaine, gang violence, or Oprah. All that we cared about was combing our hair in a ducktail like Fonzie, and acting cool with the ladies like Jack Tripper & Larry Dallas. I eventually moved onto a Leatherman Tool, a Streamlight, and a Benchmade. But those were the days.
There's a whole new generation of kids waiting in the wings to live out those same memories for themselves. I was just thinking of all that as I was boxing up a Leatherman Kick & Maglite 3D for my little 8 year old nephew. Why the Leatherman over the Swiss Army? He'll never use that corkscrew - I never did. Those toothpicks are just not sanitary. The leatherman has the pliers. We had Swiss Army as kids, simply because Leatherman wasn't invented yet. In those days, Swiss Army was the best. Those days aren't gone for good. Only these days, the kids are idolizing big shiny rims, gold teeth, and big booty biatches.

This little thing packs a lot of useful tools in a small space. My son took it to college with him and has used it many times already.

Okay... it's not top of the leatherman range and it's price reflects this.... however, it is still built with that leatherman benchmark quality. The tools do not lock, but are still held firmly in place, and contrary to what other reviewers have stated... i've never had a blade or tool close on me.
The shell of the 'kick' is a highly polished stainless steel, and is sturdy. The blades are also the standard (good quality 420 high carbon) used in other more expensive leathermans. The screwdrivers are strong and well sized.
I have several leathermans, including the 'wave' and 'skeletool', but the kick for how it it is priced is a winner. It does everything you need of it, and don't forget it still comes with the leatherman 25 year warranty.
I've owned Gerbers in the past, and i'd prefer this to the most expensive gerbers, due to the fact that I've had an expensive gerber fail.... the pliers and tools tend to be made from cheap cast, which won't hold up to much pressure unlike the 'kick'.
Highly recommended - buy it.

Exactly what I expected from a Leatherman, solidly constructed, each tool / blade locks securely into place, pliers have excellent grip strength. What's more, the first one I received had a defect, and Amazon made returning it (free) and receiving a new one incredibly easy, including sending an e-mail to advise they had received the returned one. I was very impressed with their customer service handling / correcting the problem!
