Hardcover Publisher: McGraw-Hill/Irwin The Baltzan and Phillips approach in Business Driven Information Systems discusses various business initiatives first and how technology supports those initiatives second. The premise for this unique approach is that business initiatives drive technology choices in a corporation. Therefore, every discussion addresses the business needs first and addresses the technology that supports those needs second. This approach takes the difficult and often intangible MIS concepts, brings them down to the student’s level, and applies them using a hands-on approach to reinforce the concepts. BDIS provides the foundation that will enable students to achieve excellence in business, whether they major in operations management, manufacturing, sales, marketing, etc. BDIS is designed to give students the ability to understand how information technology can be a point of strength in an organization.

I'm in final year of an MBA program and am taking a basic MIS class, of which this book is the required text. The book arrived promptly and was in very good condition, with no page markings or defects. The Premium Content Card was perfectly intact and I've already used the code to access the appendices.
Thanks!!!

The writing is bad. It explains the easy thing in a complex way. I do not recommend this book. But it is required by my teacher. I have to buy it.

I bought this book for a class that I found almost as worthless as I found the book to be (MIS 310). I gave it two stars because, after a painfully dull semester, I still can't tell if the book was so horrible because my teacher was so incompetent or because of the writing. Although, my teacher was one of the writers....so I'm sure it was a bit of both. If you are someone who likes to use the glossary or the index to find specific subjects you will be extremely disappointed. It's a shame that this book is a requirement for any class.
