On a day that begins like any other, a violent earthquake strikes Los Angeles, plunging the region into chaos. Two strangers, trapped in a collapsed shopping mall, find each other amid the rubble and join forces to escape. Hampered by injury and darkness, they dig and claw their way through one crumbled store after another, emerging long after most have given up hope for survivors.
The ordeal leaves both women shaken, but their shared triumph sets them on a life-changing course together, igniting a connection like neither has ever known.
Anna Kaklis--whose perfectly planned life never included falling in love with another woman--is thrown for a loop, but she doesn't doubt her heart.
Lily Stewart--abandoned too many times by people she trusted--won't let herself believe that Anna's love will endure.
Without Warning is the story of their courageous journey through adversity, and their promise of steadfast love.

All I can is...what were you thinking?? I've read, and re-read Shaken and I rate it right up there with LJ Maas' None So Blind. I'm sorry, but Without Warning is no where near as good as Shaken. There's no real feeling of love and family unity that was apparent in Shaken. I also found myself not really caring much for the Lily character in version. All in all, I perfered the original. I've purchased Aftershock and maybe I'll change my mind, but I doubt it.

I had the pleasure of enjoying this book as it was originally published as `Shaken' and am glad to have had the opportunity to read the story again. KG MacGregor is one of my top five favorite authors in this genre and she never disappoints.
Here she introduces Anna Kaklis, the daughter of the owner of a BMW dealership. Anna is married, but isn't happy in that marriage. In fact, she's quite miserable despite having an otherwise perfect life. Her husband has recently hooked up with his ex-girlfriend and has a baby on the way with the other woman. Anna decides then to end the relationship. Lily Stewart is an attorney who works to defend low-income women in divorce, custody, and abuse cases. Lily is unhappily single.
Both women happen to be shopping at the same mall when a major earthquake hits and traps them both. As Lily works her way toward freedom, she discovers Anna trapped under debris. Lily frees Anna and they continue to work toward the outside. As they do so, they get to know each other quite well and confess things better not told to strangers. After reaching freedom, they lose touch. Quite by accident, they run into each other again several months later and become fast friends. Anna learns to deal with her newly discovered feelings for the smaller woman and Lily learns to trust that love. As a result, they begin to build a life together.
Bottom Line - Absolutely wonderful story. It pleases me to no end that it has been reprinted (albeit under a new name) for others to enjoy. Run, don't walk to get a copy today.

I guess I shouldn't be so harsh, considering the plot and writing are more than adequate, but do the main characters have to refer to each other as "amazon" and "pygmy" throughout the entire book!? Seriously! Anyways, I might not have found "Without Warning" as disappointing had I not just read MacGregor's Out of Love, which was simply wonderful. Both books share the "across the tracks / different worlds" angle but I was never able to get into the characters in WW, which weren't hashed out enough. Maybe the author should have kept it in its original format (I believe there were three intertwined stories in one book, but I'm probably mistaken) rather than try to re-publish them as stand-alone books.

Awesome story with terrific and witty characters, a wonderfully endearing romance
Fantastic page turning writing. You really get to know the people. The story is a wonderful romance that develops into a relationship not only with themselves but also their families and friends. The characters are utterly endearing without being stereotypical. Wonderful humor as always from this author.
This is a six star book !
