Wonderful film portraying the struggles of being gay in a homophobic society using comedy as a medium. This film is a classic.

Loved this movie! Love this soundtrack! First the bad, if your looking for all those great Tammy Wynette songs Brother Boy lipsyncs to, don't bother with this cd. The good news is it also includes songs not used prominately in the movie (Get Off The Cross), full-length versions of some that were sung partially (Please Don't Be Gay), and some of the wonderful Del Shores dialogue that made up the film.

Sordid lives the movie was great fun, it's a bit dated now, but it transcends time, and the humor, the acting, and the story will live on forever! The tv show is better than the movie, Delta Burkes part is now played by Caroline Rhea, a lot of the movies cast is in the tv show, Olivia Newton John, Sarah Hunley, Bonnie Bedalia, Lesley Jordan as Brother boy, and in drag as Tammy Wynette, and Ty is played by a better actor than in the movie. There have been few movies adapted for tv that work as well as this one does. I can't understand why this show and movie haven't been promoted more in the mainstream, I mean this show and movie will appeal to anyone who watches, but being on logo [the all gay channel] is probably keeping this incredibly funny comedy from getting the recognition it deserves! I didn't originally know it was based on a movie, so I rented and watched it last night and was so pleased at how funny the movie was, but I have to say I am enjoying the show as much or more! I think the part of Ty is being played by a much better actor [not to mention a better looking guy], and this show needs more promotion! Don't miss it!

A bit of a disappointment: seems like a fan just threw it together from a copy of the movie. Where are the full songs? The idea of interspersing dialog, I love, however like other reviewers stated, there are a hundred great lines in the movie - all that could have replaced the dialog chosen for the CD. Love the hymns, and some of the songs written for the CD, however not a CD I will listen to a lot.

We used it for a comedy pantomime show to raise money for charity. We were pleasantly surprised at how many people in the audience had seen the movie and loved it. Anyone that liked the movie will enjoy the soundtrack, which includes not only many songs that were played in the background, but also some classic dialog from several scences.
