From the director of Dude, Where's My Car? comes another crazed tale of two friends on a perilous quest--in this case, to eat burgers at the fast food restaurant White Castle. The pair--repressed Harold (John Cho, Better Luck Tomorrow) and freewheeling Kumar (Kal Penn, Love Don't Cost a Thing)--get extremely high and set off on the road, only to be sidetracked by skateboarding hooligans, racist cops, an inbred tow truck driver, and Neil Patrick Harris--yes, Doogie Howser, M.D. The humor is all over the map, and it would be nice if there were one female character who wasn't a caricature, but Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle has a loose, gregarious charm, and the movie's canniness about the cliches of the buddy-movie genre give it a sneaky subversive feel--just the fact that neither of the heroes is white puts a different spin on just about every circumstance. Surprisingly clever, cheerfully stupid. --Bret Fetzer

Hilarious! This is a lot better than the second one.
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
To all the people that like the first series of American Pie (classic), this is for you. The second Harold & Kumar : Escape from Guantanamo Bay is not as good as this one.

Love it!

It's really difficult to rate these kinds of movies because you either love it or don't. I saw this movie with someone who didn't "get it", on the other hand I loved it. I thought it was the best comedy of that year.

The plot is simple enough, two pals who get a case of the hungries for the munchies at night and decide to go to White Castle and their adventures therein. It's basically a road trip movies with plenty of happenings. I could find nothing wrong with this movie.

When rating a movie like this, you look at a few things:
1) Casting: I thought the casting was just right on. Whoever casted the movie gets high marks as all the characters were just right on the spot. Once you've got the right cast, the movie is half done.
2) Acting: Despite the fact that both protagonists are actually a little too old for their parts they did the characters just right.
3) Writing/direction: I thought this hit the spot too. The over the top script was just right for this kind of movie and the directing was top notch. There wasn't a slow bit in the movie, you just went from laugh to laugh.

Finally, you can tell a movie is a hit when you get a sequel. For me, I just loved it and I loved the type of humor, just can't go wrong for someone like me.

Racism, Cop Killing, Drug Use. Really Hilarious???
Customer Rating: 1 out of 5
Although there are some really funny scenes in this movie most of it is very offensive even to young viewers like me.

1. Notice how every white male is portrayed as stupid and racist, but yet hot white girls are good enough to have sex with. Strike one.

2. There is a fantasy dream sequence where a cop gets a hole blown in his chest with a gun and falls to the ground. The ironic things about this is that when stoners and drug addicts and criminals call 911, guess who shows up to clean up the mess for the people who are bottom of the barrell? The makers of this movie are a despicable disgrace for showing this.

3. The drug use is totally useless since this movie could have rode on just being funny instead of having two idiots bake their brain.

Bottom line, What could have been a funnier movie that everyone could have watched, the movie alienates those who don't or never used drugs (yes we're out there). If you smoke pot, I guess you'd be really entertained by the movie, and I guess for all the people who gave this 4 or 5 stars, they are either 14 or 15 years old, or they were stoned themselves while watching it. A disappointingly thumbs down.

THE QUEST FOR BURGERS CAN BE FUN!
Customer Rating: 4 out of 5
With a title like this you don't expect too much, but Harold and Kumar's first adventure is surprisingly fun! The two leads have good chemistry in this thread bare plot about two buddies who take a trip to eat burgers and wackiness ensues!

Sure it's raunchy at times with some nudity, but that shouldn't bother this film's fan base. It's a fun trip with some amusing cameos along the way. The DVD has two versions of the film and I will add to this review after watching the unrated version.

I totally love this movie! Had such a hard time finding it in the stores and when I did find it, the price was usually $20!! I got it more than half price on Amazon and free shipping and handling! Completely worth every dime spent on it, not to mention the movies is hysterical!!
