From electro to peak hour goodness--with a whole lot of diva vocals
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
Featuring some exclusive remixes, this mix is a good choice for dance collectors, especially since most tracks run more than 6 minutes.

Things start off on the right foot with an energetic electro house stomper by Fallen Angel, with an alternatve sounding female vocal. HOT. This segues into another slammin track in the same style by Deux. That's why the third track, an instrumental which samples the ultimate Todd Terry classic doesn't work for me--SO dated sounding. But that's okay, because the peak hour diva anthems begin with Offer Nissim, followed by only 4 minutes of a Vernessa Mitchell slammer! The huge Deborah Cox hit also gets only 5 minutes, but you can get a longer version on other compilations. Debby Holiday can do no wrong in my eyes--really wish her club anthems would get more recognition, including "Bring It On." "Glory of Life" is brilliantly mixed by ex-Thunderpusser Chris Cox. Great female vocal, great melody...and 8 minutes of it! Janice Robinson's classic, "Dreamer," which she original recorded with Livin Joy, was released as a solo track last year with some great mixes, and while this mix wasn't on the CD single, it sounds like a remix from 1995--I know it's Bermudez's own mix, but there are much harder and better mixes on the CD single. "That Sound" is another track reminiscent of something from the clubs in 1995. Good but dated dubby track with some female vocal. "Can't Let Go" is a huge commercial vocal track that brings back the energy, and finally, Deep Dish's moody female vocal track "Say Hello" is a nice mellow way to end the disc.

Track times:

1. city life (6:34)
2. sun rising up (6:20)
3. can you feel it (4:57)
4. that's the way I like it (6:30)
5. love will find a way (4:16)
6. house is not a home (5:24)
7. bring it on (4:51)
8. glory of life (8:19)
9. dreamer (6:32)
10. that sound (6:27)
11. can't let go (7:06)
12. say hello (7:25)

Bring It On!
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
I have learned a valuable lesson: I'm not going to write any reviews until I've listened to the product a few times. Such was the case for Gay Games Chicago 2006. Even though I'm 52 (soon to be 53) years old, I am still an avid fan of this type of music. It's good to work out to; it's good to dance to; and it's certainly good to just listen to.

I had to let myself get the feel of the first couple of songs, but after that, me and my friends were all up stomping. I love this CD. It made me and my friends feel really good. My personal favorite is "Bring it On". Great dance beat; even stronger message! However, I must say that I thought all the cuts were great. This one I truly enjoyed.

This was the first time I'd been "introduced" to Joe Bermudez. I'll definitely be looking for him in the future. Put this one on people and dance your booties off!

We'll Have A Gay Ol' Time

If you're looking for a new compilation of dance tracks that will keep you moving with the tightest and best mixes I've heard since my last circuit party, look no more. The first of two CD's that benefit the Gay Games just arrived, and it is one splendid non-stop party that runs just over 70 minutes. It is superbly mixed by DJ Joe Bermudez and flawlessly produced by Nick De Base and Jeremy Rosen. The CD kicks off with Fallen Angel's "City Life" (Ian Carey Vocal Mix) and begins a journey that will transport you through 11 additional tracks that include Vernessa Mitchell's "Love Will Find A Way," Deborah Cox's "House Is Not A Home," as it seamlessly segues to Debby Holiday's "Bring It On," through Janice Robinson's #1 mega smash "Dreamer" and ultimately winds up in the capable beats of Deep Dish and the closing thump of "Say Hello." I always get excited about non-stop dance collections, but there are so many on the market, I have to be discerning and tell you only about the very best. This is by far the finest I've heard amongst the crowded marketplace in a long time. If you're not familiar with DJ Joe Bermudez, chances are you're familiar with his mixes that include radio hits from Shakira to Kelly Clarkson to several pop recording artists making their way to the top of the charts with the help of this mix master. "It's quite an honor to be selected to mix the official CD of the Chicago Gay Games," says Bermudez. "I put together an energetic mix to be enjoyed by all. For the athlete preparing to compete or the fan looking to enjoy the festivities, these songs will provide some musical motivation while simply making you feel good." I think Mr. Bermudez is being modest. These songs don't make me simply feel good - they make me simply feel great! If you'd like to attend Gay Games VII, they will take place July 15-22, 2006, in the great city of Chicago. If you are unable to make it to Virgin Megastore or Tower Records, you can log on to [...] to purchase this compilation. The second volume will be available in early summer, just prior to the Opening Ceremonies of the Gay Games.
