At once both a sexual thriller and a detective story, ONE TO ANOTHER unfolds as Lucie and Pierre, 20-year-old brother and sister, share an intimate relationship with each other and their group of friends. Pierre is a magnet for the band of youths, but he himself is unstable and narcissistic. One day Pierre is found savagely murdered. As the police investigation drags on, Lucie, aided by her friends, decides to find out who killed her brother. An evocative tale of the mysteries of youthful sexuality and how love, passion, and betrayal lead to murderous results.

Menage A Many
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
The true story of five young people living in the French countryside. The story centers on Pierre (Arthur Dupont) and his sister Lucie (Lizzie Brochere). Pierre and Lucie not only enjoy sex with each other but draw their friends into their erotic world, often bedding the lover of the other. Life is pretty good until Pierre goes missing and Lucie falls apart.

This is a French film that will appeal to Americans who find French films lacking denouement. Strangely enough, even though there is a lot of flesh in this film, it didn't feel all that sexual due to the characters casual sexual attitudes. Gorgeously filmed. Highly recommended.

By sheer coincidence, I've watched six films in a row that deal with incest. The Good Wife (wife sleeps with brother-in-law), Damage (sibling sex and sex with sons girlfriend), Murmur of the Heart - Criterion Collection (mom has sex with her son), Savage Grace(mom has sex with her gay son) Somersault (Girl sleeps with mom's boyfriend. Incest-y enough.) One To Another, Somersault and Damage were the best of this odd cinematic journey.

Provocative, alluring, disturbing

**SPOILERS**

Based on a true story, the provocative and haunting French drama, "One to Another," is a lyrical, erotically-charged tale of forbidden love set within the context of a murder mystery. The story focuses on Lucie, a beautiful young woman in her early 20s, and her highly unorthodox relationship with four men who have been her inseparable "pals" since childhood. One of those men is her own bisexual brother, Pierre, whose death under mysterious circumstances serves as the catalyst for the movie's plot. In true Gallic fashion, "One to Another" seems somehow less concerned with the killing than with the way sex defines the lives of these characters, yet when the solution to the mystery finally comes, it is both shocking and profoundly disturbing in the truths it reveals about human nature.

Probably only the French could get away with exploring sexuality from so many different angles in a single movie, and, true to form, "One to Another" plunges unflinchingly into topics that would normally never be broached in polite society. Lucie's quasi-incestuous relationship with Pierre, in particular, comes about as close to pushing the envelope as anything one is ever likely to find on screen (though Bertolucci`s "The Dreamers," another popular French film from a few years back, dealt with a similar situation). And while the movie doesn't come right out and condemn the characters for their free-floating sexuality, it seems to imply that, without a clear moral compass to guide a person through life, even the most heinous of acts will finally be deemed acceptable.

One problem with the movie is that while Lucie is a beautifully realized and compelling character (brought to exquisite life by Lizzie Brochere), the same cannot be said for the boys in the story, who look, dress and act so much alike that it often becomes hard to differentiate them one from another (though, I hasten to add that the actors are all very good in their roles). This not only leads to confusion on the part of the viewer but to an imbalance in the chemistry of the story, since Lucie is so much more intriguing than the men with whom she`s having all these relationships. That sense of disorientation is further compounded in the early stages of the movie by the fact that it takes awhile for us to realize that many of the scenes we are watching are actually flashbacks to earlier events. Once we are able to get our temporal bearings, however, this ceases to be a problem and the structure actually enhances the insightfulness of the film.

"One to Another" is definitely worth checking out, provided one is not easily offended by nudity, simulated sex scenes, or the exploration of troubling themes. Moreover, because the movie is blessed with artful direction (by Pascal Arnold and Jean-Marc Barr) and gorgeous cinematography (by Barr and Chris Keohane), the alluring imagery and sensuous rhythms ultimately cast a spell over the audience. And that kicker at the end will send you reeling.

BEWARE ROLANDO A PEREZ'S REVIEW!!!!!
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
I'm not here to review the movie -which is never less than watchable, and frequently is very engaging and enjoyable- but to warn readers that Rolando A Perez ('RAP') has a "review" full of colossal SPOILERS, and doesn't have the decency or courtesy to warn readers; much of my interest in the film, and certainly enjoyment, was utterly wrecked by Perez's thoughtlessness. As he can't be bothered to be polite, let me take this opportunity to warn readers; if the movie sounds intriguing to you, get a hold of it by all means, but don't read Perez's profoundly irritating paragraphs first!!!

Quelle domage
Customer Rating: 2 out of 5
This film was really, really awful. Boring, confusing and dull. It is saved from getting one star only by the fact that there's lotsa cute naked people! It's helpful, but not enough to build a movie on.

What was wrong with this movie? It's very disjointed, for one thing. Much of it is told in flashback, and while there's nothing wrong with that in principle, you have to have people who know what they're doing. This film appears to lack that.

The movie centers around a girl searching for clues to the murder of her brother. The brother in question was something of a slut/prostitute, who slept with just about everyone, including her (though apparently they never actually Did The Deed).

It's not a bad plot idea, but frankly after the first hour or so I stopped caring. None of the characters really engaged me. Sure, the bare skin was nice to look at, but shallow though I am, I do prefer there to be a little more substance (besides, if you want a couple movies with acres of attractive flesh, check outY Tu Mama Tambien and The Dreamers (Original Uncut NC-17 Version)).

In more competent hands this could've been a good movie. As it is... well, put it this way: if all you want to do is see the nakeds, rent the film from Netflix. Since it's released by them, I'm sure you can find it pretty easily. Don't be like me and buy a copy you're now stuck with.

Le film c'est merde.

Excellent Movie
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
Excellent, Excellent movie. I believe this is my first five stars for a French gay movie, even though I have not rated every French movie I have seen. This movie is a Strand Release, a tragic story, but a smart account of true events that happened in France. It is a mystery, with a very profound twist at the end.

The plot surrounds five teenagers, Pierre, Lucie, Sebastien, Baptiste, and Nicolas, who grew up together in some small town in the country side of France. These kids are like glued together, doing just about everything together. Lucie has slept with all the boys except for her brother Pierre. Pierre is bisexual, but mostly inclining toward gay. Baptiste and Sebastien are straight. Nicolas is the other gay kid who sleeps with Pierre but has issues with his sexuality. It is refreshing how these kids have no hang ups being around each naked, especially the boys. In other countries that will be considered uncomfortable, even though boys and athletes have been doing in locker rooms and showers for centuries.

Pierre is found dead in a field near their town and Lucie goes on a quest to find her brother's murder stopping at nothing. There is a lot flashbacks throughout the movie of Pierre doing things with his sister and all of his friends. I hate these types of movies as the flashbacks are very distracting, and you have to pay close attention to the movie. But on this movie I make an exception.

The movie progresses where Lucie befriends a cop in the case so that he can open it again. She sleeps with him for his cooperation. It is also interesting that Lucie is the promiscuous one, sleeping with just about everybody. I supposed that when you have been around with four cute healthy boys, you are shared, and you can easily become the slut. There is a six boy who has psyche power and is a peeping Tom, always watching the other five having sex. This character becomes close with Lucie after Pierre is murdered, she always asking him for help using his psyche power. She obviously tries to seduce him too for his help, but he does not do it. Lucille becomes pregnant at the end of the movie with Sebastien's baby.

The movie ends with the most unlikable murderers. Sebastien and Nicolas murdered Pierre while Baptiste watches doing nothing. There are some hints throughout the movie where the boys are feeling uncomfortable and guilty, especially in Pierre's cremation scenes. You realize that after the truth is discovered.

Again, not everybody will find this movie as well as I did. Yes, there are the candy eyes, those cute teenage boys, which could be appealing to the audience. I tend to yearn for my teenage years, ones that I did not have. But what I find the most fascinating, challenging, and puzzling, is not the beauty of these kids, but the reason why these boys kill their own buddy. Was it Nicolas insecurity, his jealousy that other men were sharing Pierre. But how did he managed to convince the other boy to commit the crime, while the other watches. How could you possibly do that to someone you shared everything with (or yes there were in a band together becoming successful.) By the way Pierre was helping out the band financially by selling his body as a hustler. The story is what I love, the mystery.

Sebastien and Nicolas are sentenced to 18 years of prison, Baptiste 5.
