Audio CD Publisher: Island American heartland singer-songwriter and pianist Jon McLaughlin - whose show-stopping live performance of "So Close," the Oscar-nominated song from the Disney movie Enchanted, was seen world¬wide during the 80th annual Academy Awards ceremonies - has returned with OK NOW, his second album for Island Records, due October 7th. Fans are getting a sample with the release of a new single, "Beating My Heart," which impacted at the Hot AC radio format on June 9th.
"Beating My Heart" was written by Jon McLaughlin and produced by John Fields, known for his recent chart-topping work with the Jonas Brothers, Lifehouse, and Switchfoot. The new album is being mixed by Tom Lord-Alge and will feature the soon-to-be hit "Smack In To You," written and produced by the Grammy award-winning team of Tricky and The-Dream.
Jon's triumphant Oscar night performance ignited an astonishing 1,514% overnight sales increase at Amazon for Indiana, which neatly took over the #1 spot on the Movers & Shakers chart. "Musically, the big winner of the night was Jon McLaughlin," wrote FoxNews.com's Roger Friedman in his Oscars coverage. "He sang one of the Enchanted songs. Talk about a break-out moment! That's a phenomenal voice... McLaughlin could be the next big thing."
Indiana, Jon McLaughlin's first major label album, received maximum exposure on tours with Sara Bareilles last summer, Paolo Nutini in the fall, and then climaxing with Kelly Clarkson on her 24-city North American tour, October through December.
Named one of "The 10 Hot Guys of Summer" by US Weekly magazine last year, Jon was also seen performing on the CBS-TV daytime drama The Bold & The Beautiful, on NBC's The Today Show and on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Jon McLaughlin Photos

Although the style is entirely different than his previous album, Indiana, he certainly doesn't disappoint in this cd. His piano skills are amazing and the vocals are soothing and enchanting. I would recommend this album to anyone!

If you're expecting the melodic, piano-driven songs that made Jon famous, you won't find it on OK Now. On the other hand, if you're new to Jon McLaughlin's music, you might just enjoy it. With the exception of You Can Never Go Back and Beating My Heart, which have reasonably catchy melodies, the rest are just mediocre in terms of songwriting. Though all the songs are the average pop fare, Jon still lends his distinct vocals to the album. If you're looking for the distinct piano pop of Indiana, you'll be disappointed. Jon has changed his musical direction, which is bad in this instance, because he left the sound that made him great.

I absolutely love this cd! I bought the cd, because I had heard him on a movie soundtrack and fell in love with his voice and music style. His songs are great to run/jog/bike to, fast even beats that make your workout seem like it's so much easier! I would recommend him to anyone.

I'm very happy with this album. I was a little scared to venture into this sophomore project by Mr. McLaughlin as I knew the sound was a little different than his first album. It is different but still very likable and enjoyable. I enjoy most of the tracks on this album. My favorite songs are Dance Your Life Away, Beating My Heart, You Can Never Go Back and Why I'm Talking to You. It's an album you'll want to listen through more than once.

another great album from an immensely talented singer-songwriter
it's a travestry that he isn't bigger and more popular
this pop album is eons better than most of the stuff out there
sure this might not be as brilliant as "Indiana" and it is a tad overproduced (his voice is a little drowned out in some songs - totally no need for that as he has a great voice)
but still overall a great pop album
Fav tracks off this album are:
Track 2: Four Years - beautiful song.. captures the finishing of the college years perfectly.
Track 5: The Middle - seriously a perfect pop song. his voice is so soaring and emotive in this one
Track 8: Dance Your Life Away - insanely catchy song... great beat and melody
Other really great songs are obviously "Beating My Heart", "Things that You say', You Are the One I Love' & "We All Need Saving"
Seriously more people need to buy this album cause it's totally worth it
